Privacy Policy
Effective 25 September 2026
Sankhya is a record-keeper for your japa and purashcharana practice. It was built on one promise: your practice is yours alone. This page says, in plain language, exactly what that means.
The short version: Sankhya collects no data of any kind. There is no account, no server, no analytics, and no advertising. Everything you enter — your mantra, your counts, your sankalpa, your notes — stays only on your own iPhone, in the app's private storage.
What Sankhya does not do
- No account or sign-up — nothing to register, nothing tied to your identity.
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
- No advertising, and no advertising networks embedded in the app.
- No third-party SDKs that collect data. Sankhya has no network connection to us or to anyone else.
- Your mantra is never transmitted anywhere. If you choose to keep it private, it never even appears outside your own device.
Where your data lives
All practice data — your sankalpa, your daily counts, your log, your settings — is stored locally on your iPhone in Sankhya's private app storage. We have no server, so we never see it, store it, or have any way to access it.
Automatic backups on your phone
To protect against data loss, Sankhya automatically writes backup snapshots to a Backups folder inside the app's own Documents directory. This folder is visible in the iOS Files app, under On My iPhone → Sankhya → Backups, so you can always see what has been saved.
Because this folder lives inside the app's Documents directory, it is automatically included whenever your iPhone itself is backed up — through iCloud Backup or through a Finder/computer backup — exactly like your other apps' data. We have no part in that backup; it is between you, your device, and Apple.
Backups you choose to share
Sankhya also lets you save a backup file yourself at any time (Settings → Save backup to Files / iCloud Drive). When you do this, the file goes wherever you choose to send it — iCloud Drive, a Mac via AirDrop, an email to yourself, and so on. We are never a party to that transfer; the file only ever travels where you direct it.
Notifications
If you turn on practice reminders, they are ordinary local notifications scheduled on your device. They never contain your mantra text, and nothing about them is sent anywhere — no notification service outside Apple's own is involved.
Children
Sankhya does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect information at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this same address with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, we do not anticipate this changing in substance.
